MECC Participates in Horasis Asia Meeting 2026
18 Jul 2026
The Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) was honoured to be invited to participate in the prestigious Horasis Asia Meeting at The Londoner Macau on 10 July.
The "Macau In-Focus: Investment and Cooperation Opportunities in Macau" seminar commenced with key opening addresses from Macau SAR government delegates. They presented a strategic overview of Macau's future, highlighting how the "1+4" diversification strategy—which strengthens tourism while accelerating the big health, modern finance, high-tech, and MICE sectors—is being amplified by the joint development of the Macau-Hengqin Cooperation Zone. These updates underscore the region's expanding capabilities as a vital gateway for European and international investment.
Following the institutional briefings, a dynamic panel discussion chaired by José Carlos Matias (CEO of Macau Business) brought practical market insights to the forefront. MECC President Echo Chan took the stage as a key panelist, providing expert analysis on local economic policies and offering strategic guidance for foreign enterprises navigating the evolving Macau-Hengqin business landscape. The panel also addressed critical drivers of regional growth, focusing on collaborative solutions for international talent recruitment and retention, which remain central to fostering a sustainable business ecosystem.
As Horasis Chairman Dr. Frank-Jürgen Richter noted in his closing remarks, the alignment of geographical advantages, forward-thinking policies, and deep regional integration makes the Macau-Hengqin area a highly compelling destination for global partnerships.
We are grateful to all panelists and congratulations to Dr Frank-Jürgen Richter for hosting this meaningful summit.
MECC remains dedicated to supporting these initiatives and looks forward to strengthening trade, cooperation, and economic ties between Europe and Macau.
